Led by Director Dianne Clare, Scarborough Harmony Chorus is an award-winning women’s chorus belonging to Area 5 of Harmony Inc., an international, non-profit organization whose purpose is to empower all women through education, friendship, and a cappella singing in four-part harmony. In addition to local community, members travel from the greater Toronto area including Pickering, West Toronto, North York, and Vaughan to be part of this close-knit community.
Founded in 1959, Harmony, Inc. currently has over 65 chapters and over 2,000 members. In keeping with the organization’s motto, “A Blend with Friendship,” many Harmony members develop lifelong friendships that span generations and know no geographic boundaries.
Harmony members take pride in the “one voice, one vote” concept applied to chapter and international government. Governed by an elected Board of Directors, Harmony, Inc. is divided into six geographical areas within the United States and Canada, with chapters stretching from Manitoba to Florida and Newfoundland to California.

Scarborough Harmony Chorus members are challenged weekly in a constructive and supportive manner to learn and perform music that spans traditional barbershop to pop music and have performed at places such as Fairview Mall, Scarborough Town Centre, North York Central Library, Scarborough Civic Centre, Markville Mall, Bridlewood Mall, and Centennial College. One of our greatest joys is being able to contribute to our community. We have been pleased to participate in charity fundraising concerts and events for groups such as Sleeping Children Around the World, The Canadian Cancer Society, and local seniors’ homes. We also host our own shows and compete at Harmony Inc’s area contest and convention (AC&C).

Rehearsals
We rehearse weekly on Wednesday evenings from 7:00pm – 9:30pm, taking only a short break in December for the holidays and then again in June for a summer break.
